Traci Weiss is an AV-rated attorney with over 20 years of civil litigation experience.  After working for nearly two decades with a larger Atlanta family law firm, Traci started Weiss Family Law so she can best serve her clients’ interests with a focus on a reasonable, honest approach toward optimum results.  Prior to that, Traci worked as a litigator for firms including Warner Bates and Drew, Eckl & Farnham, LLP.  Traci’s practice is exclusively dedicated to family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, property division, paternity, legitimation, annulment, adoption, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement of court orders, and modification actions.  For her, practicing family law is all about the people.  It is a unique opportunity to stand up for and empower people while helping them through some of the most challenging situations in their lives with dignity and compassion, showing them how their interests and the interests of their children can be protected and advanced while keeping their integrity intact.

Traci also serves as a Guardian ad Litem (both privately and is also included on GAL lists through the Cobb County courts as well as the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation).  Guardians ad Litem serve as officers of the court appointed by judges or agreement of parties to represent the best interests of minor children in sensitive child custody matters.  As a GAL, Traci fervently investigates child custody-related matters so she can make the most sound recommendations to help protect the well-being and best interests of children while helping parents and the Courts resolve such important, delicate matters.

An experienced trial lawyer, Traci is prepared to passionately advocate and fight for what is right and just for her clients and their families.  However, Traci also has extensive experience and training in mediation and other forms of alternate dispute resolution, recognizing the value and importance of negotiation and creative problem-solving in these sensitive family matters.  Traci is a and serves as the Internal Membership Chair member of the Amicable Divorce Network (ADN), where members are vetted to be resolution-minded to be able to help parties who are seeking to keep their divorce as amicable as possible, without adding unnecessary animosity.  In 2022, she became a Certified Amicable Divorce Professional (CADP), with a concentrated training in matters involving LGBTQIA+ clients and families.

Traci’s advocacy and courtroom performance have garnered her significant recognition by Martindale-Hubbell, which awarded her an “AV Preeminent Attorney” rating (every year since 2012) – the highest rating available - by her peers as well as by the Judiciary, and has also named her a “Top Rated Lawyer in Family Law,” a Legal Leaders “Top Rated Lawyer in Georgia for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability,” one of “Georgia’s Outstanding Young Lawyers,” a “Woman Leader in the Law,” and has repeatedly given her the “Client Distinction Award.”

Traci was also honored to be voted the top lawyer in the “Best of Jewish Atlanta: 2021 Reader’s Choice Awards,” after having been previously named as one of the top 3 lawyers in the "Best of Jewish Atlanta: 2020 Reader's Choice Awards" by the Atlanta Jewish Times magazine.  She has earned additional accolades among the legal community including recognition from Thompson Reuters, Law and Politics Magazine and Atlanta Magazine, which have named her a Georgia Super Lawyer (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) after having named her a Georgia Super Lawyers “Rising Star” six times.  Traci has also been honored with a “Women In Law 2017 Award” by Lawyer Monthly, and was named multiple times as a “Top 40 Family Lawyer Under 40 in the State of Georgia” by the American Society of Legal Advocates, one of “Georgia’s Top Rated Lawyers” by Legal Leaders/Attorney at Law Magazine, one of “Legal Leaders: Women Leaders” and “Legal Leaders: Georgia” by The American Lawyer/Attorney at Law Magazine, one of “America’s Most Honored Professionals – Top 1%” by American Registry, received a “Distinguished Lawyer Designation” by the Expert Network, and has maintained a “10.0 Superb Rating” by Avvo since 2012.  In addition, Traci contributed to updates and revisions to the Georgia Domestic Relations – Forms and Practice (2012-2018), a book highly regarded by lawyers throughout the state which includes guides to the practice of family law in Georgia and related forms.

Traci is currently serving as President of the Women of the Bar Section of the Cobb County Bar Association (2022-2023), and serves as a member of the CCBA Board of Trustees (2020-2021, 2022-2023).  She previously served as the President of the CCBA Family Law Section (2020-2021), and before that, as Vice President (2019-2020), Secretary (2018-2019), and Member-At-Large (2017-2018).  An active member of multiple additional professional organizations, in 2022, Traci was elevated from a Barrister to a Master with the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court.  In addition, she is a member of the General and Family Law sections of the Atlanta, Cobb County, Gwinnett County and DeKalb County Bar Associations, the CCBA Guardian ad Litem Section, the Gwinnett County chapter of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL), and the Professional Women’s Information Network (ProWIN).  Traci has also served as a member of the Inclusion (Diversity) Committee and the Legislative Committee of the State Bar of Georgia,

A native of eastern Long Island, New York, Traci graduated from Binghamton University (S.U.N.Y.) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history.  She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Emory University School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Society, the Order of Advocates, the Honor Court, and the Honor Court of Appeals. She is also an active member of her community, where she has volunteered several years as a judge in mock trial competitions, and served on the Board of Directors of her homeowners' association.  Together with her husband, Oscar, Traci is a proud mother to a young son, daughter, and stepson, as well as their 3 dogs and 4 turtles.  She enjoys spending time with her family, and finding opportunities for travel, outdoor adventure, movies and musical theater.
